The dreadful return of student loan payments had finally arrived. Beginning this month, millions of borrowers will be expected to begin making their scheduled repayments. It is the first time in 3 years that any student has had to make payments on their debts.

Things to remember going forward:

  • If you graduated in the spring, your payments will begin after said grace period ends.
  • Interest rates kicked back on 1 September.
  • Payments will be due sometime this month and students can expect to see their bill 21 days beforehand.
  • Most student loans will be the same amount as before essentially having been frozen in time. Unless there were significant changes made to an account.
  • Some people had their servicers changed (some people knew ahead of time some didn’t.) visit the financial website to be able to log in and view your information so you do not end up in financial trouble.
