Communication efforts in Lahaina are now under heavy scrutiny. According to reports, officials are now investigating claims that officials in the area did not properly activate disaster sirens.

The now deadly and massive wildfires in Lahaina are getting a new kind of scrutiny. According to the AP, investigators are now looking into claims that emergency sirens were not deployed in time to the lead up of the deadly disaster.

Some reports note that communication efforts largely stalled; cell phone service and other services were down, all of which further complicated rescue efforts. A reported 80 people have died so far. Many are wondering how the sirens were missed given that the state possesses an incredible emergency warning system for varying disasters.
