NYC has a really hard time prosecuting people who actually commit very bad crimes

Authorities in New York City are once again falling under intense criticism for their wildly lax bail laws. According to reports, a man who notoriously raped a woman 35,000 ft in the air on a JFK flight has essentially walked free. A man named Daniel Katz was sentenced to one-year probation; three months unmonitored home detention, and 75 hours of community service for the terrifying 2018 sky-high rape. It is the latest example of New York City officials letting evil criminals walk free regardless of the severity of their crime.

Judge Frederic Block known for his often lenient sentences is responsible for the shockingly lax case against the man. Katz must also register as a sex offender but that was about the only severe consequence he faced. The victim identified only as ‘Gina’ was onboard next to Katz aboard Etihad Airways Flt. 103 on Feb. 23, 2018, flying from Abu Dhabi to New York.
