California has set the stage for the latest case of a woman being prosecuted for something a man did. Jada Janks a successful interior designer is on trial this week in California for the 2021 ‘murder’ of her stepfather after she found nonconsensual nude photographs of herself on his computer device. Thomas Merriman’s body was found in January 2021.

Janks has pleaded not guilty to the charge and is the latest woman in the United States to have something wildly cruel done to her by a male, only in turn to be prosecuted for it in the end. Merriman had numerous nude photos of her on his computer and had even used one of them as his screensaver according to the case.

“This was no accident,” San Diego County Deputy District Attorney Jorge Del Portillo said, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune. “This was murder by design.”

Prosecutors are attempting to paint her as a killer using some of the text messages they allege she sent at the time.

“He’s waking up,” one alleged text read, according to NBC San Diego. “I really don’t want to be the one to do this.”

“I am about to club him on the head as he is waking up,” another read.
