A win that stretches clear into the Gulf of Mexico over rights to drilling and the like over millions of acres. According to the judge’s ruling, the U.S Interior Department did not adequately take into account or thought the issues that would arise in terms of climate change and planet warming problems.
US District Judge Rudolph Contreras ultimately decided that among the millions of acres the U.S attempted to lease for drilling that the environment was more important. In the 86 page ruling, Contreras did send the plan back to the Interior Department for further review and required changes before it could actually proceed in any kind of way.
