Meta says it will remove all news content from its app(s) if Congress passes Journalism Preservation Act

Known as the Journalism and Competition Preservation Act it aims to help smaller publishers negotiate with Big Tech for the use and distribution of their content. Facebook (aka Meta) however is attempting to once again fight back — the same way it has done so in other countries. Congress is finally gaining speed in efforts seen around the world to stop big tech from profiting off of media orgs work without actually paying said media org.

The bipartisan bill would allow publications with no fewer than 15,000 full-time employees to negotiate ‘pricing, terms and conditions’ which would then allow orgs to distribute the content per and according to those terms and those terms only.
