You can’t make this up. A sports commentator in Oklahoma is catching some serious flack after apparently being caught on a hot-mic making racist comments about a girls basketball team. The Washington Post reports that said commentator has in turn blamed his racism on his diabetes.

Matt Rowan apparently referred to Norman High School players as the (“n-word”) before going on a further profanity laced rant after they kneeled during the same.

“I hope Norman gets their ass kicked,” per the Tahlequah Daily Press. In a broadcasted  statement, Rowan admits making “statements that cannot be taken back,” saying: “I am a family man. I am married, have two children and at one time was a youth pastor.” He denies being a racist, adding “I will state that I suffer from Type 1 diabetes and during the game my sugar was spiking.”

“While not excusing my remarks it is not unusual when the sugar spikes that I become disoriented and often say things that are not appropriate as well as hurtful.
