In George’s world it wouldn’t be an ordinary day without a dash fraud. According to reports, one of Santos’s fundraisers has been arrested and charged with impersonating Kevin McCarthy’s former aide Dan Meyer.

An indictment unsealed on Wednesday revealed that the man identified as Samuel Miele adding yet another criminal element to an already deeply troubled campaign.

Meyer had in recent times retired back in June. Miele is charged with four counts of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft.

Prosecutors allege that Miele set up an email account using the first letter and full last name of the aide and then used it to ask for campaign donations. Election filings revealed that he was paid a 15% commission in total for each donation.
