Oklahoma ‘s right-wing governor is attempting to hold one of the state ‘s largest healthcare systems hostage over simply providing care to young locals. According to NBC, the state ‘s Governor has signed a bill blocking the University medical centre from receiving $108m in federal funding meant for the hospital unless it stops providing gender-affirming care to those under 18. Governor Stitt is also aiming to ban the procedures and care statewide when the legislative assembly returns.

In response to losing funding, the hospital system appears to have ceased care for these situations.

“The OU Health Senior Leadership Team is proactively planning the ceasing of certain gender medicine services across our facilities and that plan is already under development,” the hospital system said in a statement to news outlets.
