New York City is making a desperate race to get more jabs in arms as it appears the Delta variant has arrived in the Big Apple and is taking hold faster than many realized. At De Blasio ‘s latest remote press conference, the mayor confirmed that people who get their first jab at a city run site will in fact receive $100 (on a pre paid debit card though.) The move is the latest incentive seen around the United States as American officials struggle to jabs in arms due to extreme bouts of vaccine hesitancy and outright misinformation.
“It does not get better than that,” de Blasio said during his daily remote press briefing of the $100 reward for agreeing to a jab.
“Incentives help immensely,” the mayor said. “I think it’s going to be very, very appealing to New Yorkers.”
