A New York City man who apparently had aspirations of joining the Taliban has learned his fate. According to case records for Delowar Mohammed Hossain, Hossain has been sentenced to 8 years in prison for his efforts to quite literally join the terrorist cell.
Back in October, Hossain was convicted of trying to provide material support for terrorism by contributing funds, goods and services to the Taliban. This came after his 2019 arrest at JFK Airport on the initial charges — he had allegedly been trying to flee to Afghanistan on a flight at the time.
Papers show that cops first sought him back in 2018 when he first began expressing interest in joining the Taliban. Except the person he would go on to befriend in those so-called circles was actually a government informant that he had not realized.
