According to officials in Chicago, Smollett has agreed to pay $50k to Brighter Futures Centre for the Arts to settle the previous suit filed by the city against him. Some may recall that Smollett staged a hate crime attack against him a few years ago before his scam unraveled. The city had sued him to recoup money spent on his bogus investigation.
Smollett previously denied staging the January 2019 ordeal but has since settled the case and paid his dues.
