Dave Chappelle ‘s new documentary piece The Closer is being widely criticized as it is dropped. According to the New York Post, Chappelle ‘s Closer is being dropped against the backdrop of intense criticism that he is transphobic in the documentary itself. Both Chappelle and Netflix have largely avoided taking accountability for the idea or perception that he was offensive.
“[When] this controversy came out about ‘The Closer,’ they began disinviting me from film festivals and now, today, not a film company, not a movie studio, not a film festival, not nobody will touch this film.
“Thank God for Ted Sarandos and Netflix. He’s the only one that he didn’t cancel me yet” he said to loud cheers from the audience.
