Former Glee star Naya Rivera is believed to be dead as a massive search and rescue went underway throughout yesterday evening. According to the Ventura County Sheriff ‘s Dept, Rivera went missing yesterday afternoon shortly after renting a boat at 1pm with her son.
Police say that Rivera boarded that boat but was not seen again, her son however has since been located and is safe.
Here’s what we know so far:
- She rented the boat around 1pm with her son in tow for a fun day of swimming.
- She boarded the boat roughly 30 minutes later and within 3 hours had vanished.
- Her 4-year-old son turned up unaccompanied on the boat and her life jacket was found on board according to police.
- As of yesterday evening, a search and rescue operation was underway but it is feared that she is dead.
It is believed according to police through recollections of her son that she jumped into the water and did not make it back up. The child managed to emerge from swimming but she didn’t, she was not wearing a life jacket.
