According to BBC,   Mexico ‘s President Sheinbaum is taking Google to court over Google ‘s capitulation to the Trump Administration over its renaming of the Gulf of Mexico.    The Gulf of Mexico has been the Gulf of Mexico for about 400 years and Mexico would like to stay that way.

The Mexican government claims that Google had been asked by officials numerous times to correctly refer to the body of water but did  not reverse course on the matter.  In Mexico, it remains The Gulf of Mexico outside of Mexico it is actually now called Gulf of America on map apps.

Mexican officials maintain that it is not within the right of the United States to actually rename the body of water despite Trump ‘s efforts.  Officials say that the order signed by Trump actually only applies to part of the continental shelf that applies to the United States — not anywhere else.
