After nearly 20 years of very long delays, REAL ID is now required for those flying within the United States.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
The REAL ID is an updated version of an ID or Drivers License that Americans already have. The only difference is that the documents have a STAR (an actual STAR) on them on the corner. Previous versions do not have the STAR therefore are not compliant with the new law. Fliers who do not have this kind of ID will still be allowed to fly but they should expect to face delays in getting through processing.
Security checkpoints will still be accepting passports and tribal identification in other circumstances as they always have.
