Ongoing arguments that the Trump Administration should be allowed to end birthright citizenship — will be heard at the Supreme Court next month.
The Lowdown
According to the New York Times, the Supremes are set to hear Trump ‘s efforts to end birthright citizenship in the United States. For those unclear about the matter, the constitution’s 14th amendment confers automatic citizenship on just about every person born in the U.S — a view that has been endorsed by legal scholars and previous court cases.
The justices are set to hear the case 15 May. Trump ‘s order would prevent newborns from obtaining automatic citizenship if neither parent is a U.S citizen or legal permanent resident.
