A scathing new report on the devastating fires that rocked Maui last year is out.

One year after the devastating fires that rocked Maui a scathing new finding. According to reports, officials have determined that Hawaii did not act fast enough to prepare the town of Lahaina. The historic town was devastated by the fires beyond most measures.

In total the fires claimed 102 lives. Formal recommendations have been made indicating that emergency response personnel including police must work on their procedures.

In the case of these fires, a National Weather Service official emailed Hawaiian officials on 4 August about the danger of incoming weather set to at the time hit on 8 August.

The report found that none of the usual agencies acted in a prompt manner. They include Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, Maui Fire Department, and Maui Police.
