Notorious would be an understatement. In a new interview, McFarland sat down with the WSJ for an interview
The Lowdown
Back in 2017, McFarland was the subject of widespread ridicule after promoting an event called Fyre Festival. The festival promised unheard of luxury, however, it later devolved into one of the most notorious influencer scams perhaps ever.
Instead of receiving five star luxury treatment but instead were infamously greeted with subpar sandwiches, dirty bathrooms, and a dose of reality many of the influencers didn’t see coming.
In the interview, which was lacking explicit details McFarland maintains that it isn’t a scam this time and that a real production company is on board. Though neither the company or any details about them were named.
It also isn’t clear where it would be or who would perform. McFarland may have a hard time selling an event nobody knows anything about.
