Embattled Mayor Eric Adams is still the subject of an investigation that alleges too-kind ties to the Turkish government.
The Lowdown
According to the New York Times (paywall), federal investigators have hit Adams with an array of subpoenas in connection to July communications with Turkish government officials. Those communications are at the forefront of allegations that Adams has been in bed with the Turkish government this entire time.
It must be bored that neithe Adams or his campaign staffers have been charged with a crime at this time or have been accused of formal wrongdoing.
What happened?
Back in November, FBI agents raided the home of a top Adams fundraiser and the area offices of KSK — a Turkish construction company doing business in the boroughs.
Even Fire Dept officials have claimed they Adams does in fact engage in special favors as claimed in the original complaint. It is claimed that Adams ushers in his buddies and highest bidders to the front of the line in terms of safety inspections and other necessary permits.
