European Union officials have finalized plans that will now allow people to use their cell phones freely on flights beginning next summer. Officials say now that 5G has arrived there is little worry that cell phones might become a problem in terms of plane navigation systems. That is mostly because 5G can operate on certain signals and the like while navigation systems can operate on the other. Flyers will as it is understood be allowed to text; make phone calls, and actively stream video 35,000 feet in the air.
This will not apply outside of the Union as countries like America still ban the use of phones midair and have since 1991.
All EU member states must make 5G available on flights by the June deadline.
