And that phase out means that by 2025 people will have to use their own cups or borrow one from the coffee chain. According to Forbes, the company announced on Wednesday that to combat waste and such environment wise it would be entirely phasing out the iconic cups many people are used to seeing especially during their Monday morning coffee runs.

According to CNN, Starbucks over the course of the near future will begin testing a widespread “borrow a cup” programme which will require people to pay a deposit and later return the cup. The company notes that by 2025 its paper cups and those that you might usually find now will no longer exist. Customers will get their $1 back and also earn rewards for borrowing the cup when the programme arrives in their city.
