As the debacle over whether or not the nation’s biggest school system will once again temporarily go remote, others, are making their voices loudly heard behind the scenes. In a letter sent this week to Eric Adams, lawmakers in New York City have joined local parents in demanding that remote learning be Initiated at least for two weeks so parents can get their kids prepared; tested, and safely sent back to school.

Adams opposes all measures that would lead to remote learning.

Co-authored by state Sen. Jessica Ramos, Assemblywoman Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas and City Councilman Shekar Krishnan the letter reads as follows according to several reports.

“We urge you to provide a remote option for about two weeks, until Tuesday, January 18th for parents to test and vaccinate their children to slow down the spread of COVID-19,” the letter states.

“This is not a request for the New York City Department of Education to do something it has not carried out previously,” they said.
