Trump ‘s golf courses illegally obtained COVID aid in UK while he was President: Reports

Ilegally because the U.S constitution has what is called the emoluments clause which prevents sitting Presidents from accepting any form of proceeds from a foreign government. But according to newly filed UK documents concerning two of Trump ‘s golf courses, he, collected more than $3m in COVID relief funds for the two properties which are spread out from each other in the U.K.

Both golf courses are reportedly owned by Golf Recreation Scotland Ltd. Infamously, despite the plush subsidies both properties still slashed staff despite the proceeds being meant for to keep staff. Eric Trump in one of the filings (see here) did attempt to justify the UK government handouts given to the Trumps’.

The businesses both reported that losses were in part due to Brexit though Brexit was widely supported by Donald Trump himself.
