Beijing ‘s upcoming attempt to host the Olympics might turn out to be a dud rather than a ratings goldmine. According to reports, the Australians have now joined the diplomatic boycott of the upcoming games over the repeated human rights violations in the country.

“I’m doing it because it’s in Australia’s national interest,” Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Wednesday. “It’s the right thing to do.”

“There’s been no obstacle to that occurring on our side, but the Chinese government has consistently not accepted those opportunities for us to meet,” Morrison said.

The Huffington Post reports that even more countries are expected to join the boycott as China becomes the brunt of international criticism.
