Incoming Governor Kathy Hochul has confirmed that mask mandates for kids in schools are imminent. In a wide spectrum interview with the TODAY show, Hochul confirmed that the option has already been explored.
In the same interview Hochul noted that schools may also be closed again in the future if the Delta variant continues to spread. Presently, about 70% of known adults in New York (hence the term known because there are still so many unaccounted for) are fully vaccinated.
