Search and tech giant Google is making big moves in the finance department. According to screenshots obtained by Reuters, Google has rolled out what apparently is called a pay calculator meant to tabulate those who work in-office and those who don’t. Some reports suggest that those who commuted before but then no longer do would see upwards of a 10-15% pay cut because they chose to work from home.
A shining example would be the idea that NYers who live within the boroughs but work remotely would not see their pay slashed at all contrary to the others. The news comes amid a much larger debate over payable salaries for those who have given office jobs the finger in exchange for much more freedom and time at home.
