Former child star Drake Bell pleads guilty to attempted sexual crimes against a child

Those crimes understood to have been sending explicit content/messages to underage girls before he was apprehended. According to what we’ve learned, Bell plead guilty to a 4th degree felony and a 1st degree misdemeanor on Wednesday in an Ohio courtroom. Per official information — he is expected to be sentenced in July and is facing upwards of 18 months or more in prison.

The incident involves an unidentified  15-year-old child who Drake met at a Cleveland nightclub in Dec. 2017. The case was filed against the actor in 2018 in Canada, and was later brought to the Cleveland Division of Police. Though initially believed that was their first meeting, er, Bell allegedly knew the child for several years prior to that. Police and prosecutors further allege that Bell ‘s relationship with the child had been sexual for some time.

Complex reports that a statement has been released by prosecutors and police in connection to the case.

“While there, Bell violated his duty of care and, in doing so, created a risk of harm to the victim,” said a spokesperson for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley. “The investigation also revealed that months leading up to the concert, Bell sent the victim inappropriate social media messages.” He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and waived the reading of the indictment.
