The New York Times is out with a new report that appears to confirm that the IRS is to delay the tax deadline. Americans will reportedly be provided upwards of an additional month to ensure that their deadlines are met and all taxes are filed. The new deadline appears to be 15 May.

Of course though the news comes at a bad time. The IRS is currently experiencing wide ranging major delays on almost every front. Thousands of Twitter users have popped online in the past week to complain about their refunds.

Refunds that for some were filed as early as 17 February but virtually almost nobody besides for a select few have actually got their returns. Chances are you are not being audited they’re just delayed. With the ever growing threat of identity theft there’s also that delay potential.
