If Democrats get their way with legislation child poverty in America could soon see itself vanish by more than 50%. According to legislation proposed this weekend, child payments would begin around July to the tune of $250 a month for children up to the age of 17 and $300 for those under the age of 6 according to CNN.

Sponsored by Dem Rep Richardl Neal “The pandemic is driving families deeper and deeper into poverty, and it’s devastating,” Neal said in a statement. “this money is going to be the difference in a roof over someone’s head or food on their table.”

It is unclear if it will actually pass.
