Despite a critically narrow majority, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was re-elected to Speaker status on Sunday. Her re-election comes as she is now approaching nearly 50 years in politics and some argue that she hasn’t done enough. Pelosi will now help open the 117th Congress this coming week as the Joe Biden Presidency continues to edge closer.
According to CNN, Pelosi was re-elected with just 216 votes and was aware of the slim majority. A majority of the seats were either vacant during the vote or had already been voted present.
