This time student loan payments will be paused until 31 January. According to the outgoing Department of Education, loan payments and the interest payments that go with them are herein frozen.
The reported additional freeze comes amid reports that incoming President Joe Biden is planning big moves for student loan relief. However, those moves remain on ice pending the results of two Senate run-offs in Georgia.
This applies to federally held loans which per reports accounts for 85% of all loans currently in existence.
