Iran knows no bounds in its bizarre hatred for its own people and anyone who dares challenge the sheer scale of the dictatorship currently in government. Over the weekend, it first emerged that pro-wrestler Navid Afkari allegedly underwent some of the most brutal terms of punishment; psychological torture, and more while in custody of the Iranian government and state police forces. In fact, they were so brutal that they apparently beat him while at it and then sentenced him to death.

Afkari appears to have been accused of brutally stabbing a security guard at the anti-government protests that rocked Iran in 2018. It’s worth noting that Iran has struggled to actually prove that Afkari killed the guard, because they weren’t able to actually place him at the scene of the crime. Through his reported lawyers and the World Players Association — Afkari’s lawyer smuggled an audio tape out of prison that confirmed reports that he was coerced into the confession that he murdered someone.

There is not one shred of evidence in this damned case that shows I’m guilty,” Afkari is quoted as saying in an IranHumanRights.org tweet. “I realized they are looking for a neck for their rope.
