Troubling news for employees of American Airlines. According to reports, AA flight attendants are slated to be hit the hardest come Oct. 1 when job cuts officially arrive.
The airline announced on Tuesday that thousands of flight attendants are either involuntarily being let go; were bought out, took leave of absences, or just outright quit. The cuts comes as expirations on that now infamous federal money (and the ban on firing that came with it) approaches.
AA claims that it must continue to cut costs due to dramatic drops in traveler numbers in America (and even worldwide.). The pandemic has wreaked havoc on travel, but, now the airline is reportedly seeking an additional $25B from the government to cover costs and more.
