Joining a growing list of states prepared to make a historic change to their way of life, Washington ‘s Seattle neighbourhood looks ready to make the jump. According to City Council members, a growing vote which appears to have the majority has surfaced and seeks to entirely defund the police department.
The move comes after the murder of George Floyd which brought numerous American cities into a moment of reckoning. Several cities have now come to terms with their own racial pasts and are attempting to draft legislation to address such.
Seattle marks at least the third city in America to seriously place legislation on the table to defund its police department.
