Facebook lost $56B amid the ad boycott, now a reversal from the social network

As Facebook shares plummeted more than $56B as the weekend kicked off —- Facebook ‘s Mark Zuckerberg relented amid growing calls to do more. According to a town hall meeting posted online, the social network swears that it will now do more to tackle hate speech found on its platform (including posts from Donald Trump.)

‘The changes are designed to address the reality of the challenges our country is facing and how they’re showing up across our community,” Zuckerberg wrote on his Facebook page.

The move comes amid billions lost in revenue and stock value after advertisers like Verizon and Patagonia all dropped their contracts and stopped purchasing time on the social network.
