Uber poised to lay off another 3,000 employees

Ride-sharing company Uber has been in the news lately for a plethora of issues; sudden layoffs, and crappy practices literally done over Zoom calls. Those brash news articles continue this week as it has emerged that Uber reportedly plans to lay off. anther 3k people as they seek to as one could probably guess cut costs.

Uber ‘s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed on Monday that the cuts would take place adding to the already more than 7k people they’ve abruptly let go. Year-by-year, however, ride on the platform have been down 80%. The company is now looking to cut even more from its roster, as it wants to cut its freight and self-driving units due to the insane amounts of cash they’re blowing through.

‘I will tell you, however, that we are making really, really hard choices now, so that we can say our goodbyes, have as much clarity as we can, move forward, and start to build again with confidence.’ 

He went on to say the company is in a ‘deep hole’. 

‘We’re seeing some signs of a recovery, but it comes off of a deep hole, with limited visibility as to its speed and shape,’ he said on Monday.

The move comes from this notoriously bad Zoom call in April…
